G&S serves the theatre community of Cape Town by staging both Gilbert & Sullivan comic operas and West End/Broadway musicals to critical acclaim, both in Cape Town and abroad.

The company tries to stage a production at least once a year, and often succeeds in doing more than that. We have also travelled to the UK to participate in the international Gilbert & Sullivan festival with The Mikado.

G&S alternates more popular musicals with the Gilbert & Sullivan genre, in order to cater for wider tastes, and have achieved great success with recent productions such as My Fair Lady, The Wizard of Oz, and Fiddler on the Roof, all of which played in the Artscape Opera House. Productions are done entirely on a community theatrical basis, that is, no performer is paid.
